Applications of 2DLT-enabled Optoelectronic Heterostructure Devices in Micro-LED Displays and Neuroscience

2-D Materials-based Layer Transfer (2DLT) offers a simple yet powerful means to integrate distinct types of thin-film semiconductor devices to enable novel functionalities and applications. Heterointegration of optoelectronic devices, in particular, can offer intriguing new applications thanks in large to their highly compact form factors. In this session, I will introduce our efforts on two distinct topics - 1) high-resolution micro-LED displays enabled by the vertical integration of red, green, and blue micro-LED films, and 2) flexible optoelectronic neural probes capable of bi-direcitonal neural communication in animal brains for chronic behavioral studies.
